As Firstcry gears up for its forthcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO) slated for the early months of the upcoming year, the anticipation and scrutiny surrounding the company’s performance have heightened. Amidst this backdrop, Vumonic Datalabs conducted an in-depth analysis of Firstcry’s data from January 2023 to September 2023. The findings reveal intriguing insights into sales patterns, popular brands, and shifting average order values.
One of the standout observations from the analysis was the substantial increase in sales during Q2 FY2024 compared to Q4 FY2023. The data showcased an impressive surge of approximately 55% in sales, reflecting a robust growth trajectory for Firstcry during that period. Throughout the three quarters under scrutiny, Babyhug emerged as the top-selling brand, with diapers, wet wipes, and bathing bars dominating as the top-selling categories.
The average order value is a critical metric indicating consumer spending patterns. Interestingly, while the average order value for January-March and April-June hovered between 800 to 850 INR, a noticeable decline was observed in the July-September quarter, dropping to approximately 600 INR.
Another compelling insight extracted from the data was the average orders per user per month, which stood at a steady 3 across the analysed period. This statistic provides valuable information on consumer loyalty and purchasing frequency, indicating a consistent engagement level among Firstcry's customer base.
Understanding these trends not only aids Firstcry in refining its marketing and sales approaches but also provides valuable insights for the broader retail landscape. As Firstcry embarks on its IPO journey, the insights gleaned from this analysis provide a solid foundation to further optimise its strategies, anticipate consumer demands, and continue providing exceptional value to its customers in the competitive baby products market.
