Vumonic Datalabs and Databurning Announce Strategic Partnership for India E-Receipt Data

Vumonic

The most predictable thing in Indian food delivery

Sunday carries 18.03% of all food delivery orders. Monday carries 12.43%. Every day in between sits in near-perfect ascending order.

Run the same query against Q2 2025 and you get 18.20% and 12.51%. Run it separately for Swiggy and Zomato and the two platforms land within 0.4 percentage points of each other on every single day of the week.

Whatever else moved in this market over twelve months, and plenty did, the weekly rhythm did not. Wednesday and Thursday are effectively tied at 13.4% in both years on both platforms. Friday adds roughly a point over Thursday. Saturday adds another. Sunday adds nearly three.

The basket follows the same slope. On Swiggy, average order value runs about INR 350 on Monday and INR 390 on Sunday. Zomato moves across the same range. Order volume and order value climb together through the week rather than trading against each other, which is not the usual relationship in this data. In most of the platform-level comparisons we run, higher volume comes with a smaller basket.

Sunday on Swiggy does roughly 1.47 times Monday's order volume at roughly INR 40 more per order. Combining both, a Sunday order slot is worth substantially more than a Monday one on the same platform, and that ratio has been stable long enough to plan against rather than react to.

The practical implication is about where promotional spend goes. Discounting into Sunday buys volume on the day the platform least needs help generating it, at the basket size customers are already willing to pay. Monday and Tuesday are where the week is actually thin, and where the basket is smallest. Very little in this dataset stays this consistent across two years and two platforms, which makes the days that underperform a more interesting target than the days that do not.
